8. Emergency plan for GMO level 1 laboratory

In case of emergency:

  1. Immediately, call for help and assistance. Other personnel at the section are informed about the safety instructions and the emergency plan will be able to help. Unless the situation is life threatening, do not leave the laboratory before complete decontamination.
  2. When help has arrived, necessary first aid must be initiated. Medical assistance and/or ambulance should be called (112). After that, decontamination shall be initiated and Arbejdstilsynet (AT), the safety officer and the governmental medical doctor (embedslægen) informed.
  3. Responsible safety officer, (see below) can be contacted for further information on decontamination, rules and regulations.
  4. Accidents: Try to limit the injury, call for help (see above) and inform the safety officer, the safety representative and if necessary AT and governmental medical doctor.
  5. In case of spill:If adequate decontamination is not possible, the safety officer, the safety representative and if necessary, AT are contacted. Furthermore, the cleaning personnel are informed both through signs and the cleaning officer (oldfrue). The safety representative responsible for the log book must be informed about any type of accident, spill or mishap.
