6. Cleaning and user procedures for growth chambers classified level GMO plants

  1. Weekly cleaning: All chambers are vacuum cleaned using a GMO labelled vacuum cleaner used for this purpose only. This cleaner must not be moved to other areas than the specified GMO classified room.
  2. Condense water produced from the cooling system of the chambers is collected and decontaminated when necessary or at least once per month.
  3. In the chambers, only plants that do not spread pollen (self fertilisers, typically Arabidopsis thaliana) may be grown. Plants that set seeds that can be spread must be removed from the chamber and put in a specific room for drying and collection of seeds (see specific procedure for moving and drying of plants and seeds).
  4. Removal and destruction of vacuum cleaner filters and bags.
  5. Dust bags from the GMO labelled vacuum cleaner are discarded as GMO waste i.e. autoclaved before discarded as ordinary waste.
