Postharvest diseases

Diseases occurring after harvest of the crop comprise a special research area and various host-pathogen-interactions are studied, ranging from identifications of pathogens and saprophytes occurring during storage to studies of the influence of infection on host physiology and the means by which the pathogens infect and influence the host. Also specialised control measures like biofumigation are studied.
