Infection biology and defence responses
In order to understand resistance of a host plant against a pathogen, it is necessary to investigate and compare the infection biology of pathogens in compatible and incompatible interactions. This is combined with identification of defence reactions using microscopy as well as biochemical and molecular techniques. Studies of defence responses are also an integral part of investigations of induced resistance.
