About Section for Molecular Plant Biology

Cyanobacteria

The aim of our research is to obtain a better understanding of the essential functions of land plants at the molecular level.

Our research covers both analyses of biosynthetic and degradative pathways, and structure and function of the involved proteins, including enzymes and membrane complexes and transcription factors. These analyses are complemented by isolation of the corresponding genes. The genes are used for generation of transgenic plants in which the individual pathways or their regulation and interaction with other steps in the pathway is modified.

The section primarily performs basic research which is directed towards improved use of crops for production of feed, biomass for bioenergy, advanced biomaterials and more healthy plant foods.

For more information about our research projects, please go to the homepages for individual research groups within our section.

The section has many national and international collaborators and has a close collaboration with Section for Plant Biochemistry.
