Characterization of transporters
The majority of plant cell wall polysaccharides are synthesized by the Golgi-localized glycosyltransferases. The glycosyltransferases use NDP-sugars as donor-substrates, which are synthesized in the cytoplasm and transported into the lumen of Golgi via membrane-bound transporters. We are interested in understanding the role of such transporters in relation to the action of glycosyltransferases. Currently we focus on characterization of transporters highly expressed under arabinogalactan biosynthesis.
