Developmental switches in Septoria
Septoria tritici/Mycosphaerella graminicola causes as leaf blotch on wheat and is considered the most disruptive disease of wheat in our climate zone. The pathogen is a so-called hemibiotroph. After infection through stomata, the fungus grows undetected in the leaf before switching to a necrotrophic phase where sporulation occurs. Reactive oxygen species are implemented in this phase as are toxins. We are studying both.
