First NorPath students complete intro-course - 27.10.2008
Nordpath is a new MSc programme running under the auspices of the NOVA University Network
Following 18 months planning, the first group of 16 students have now completed the introductory course “Plant Pathology in a Changing World” held at LIFE from 11-22/8-08. These students are enrolled in MSc programmes at the 4 faculties at SLU, HU, UMB and KU-LIFE. Funded by the NOVA Network and Nordplus exchange programme under the Nordic Council.
They have been taught by teachers from the 4 faculties and have been on a two week intensive residential course, which gives unprecedented opportunities for the students to interact with their teachers under informal circumstances.
Activities have included lectures and excursions to Højbakkegaard, where they collected plants with diseases, Plantedirektoratet (The Danish Plant Directorate), and a trip to Sweden, where they visited SLU, Nordisk Genbank (Nordic Gene Bank) and the plant preservation firm Svalöf. They also performed group work leading to presentations of some problems facing the world caused by plant diseases.
