Nanobiotechnology

The last decade, the importance of nano scale structures and processes in technology has gained enormous attention, and is expected to revolutionize many areas of natural sciences and technology. Nanotechnology is expected to be the next major segment oftechnology taking over after the bio-technology revolution. Soft nanobiotechnology, is now rapidly growing as an exiting separate research field covering biological nano systems.

This course covers basic nanobio terms such as biomimetics (mimicking Nature) and selforganizing

systems. Classical examples of such structures are proteineous assemblies such as molecular pumps and the strong spider silk proteins, carbohydrate assemblies including cell wall structures and lipid membranes. The course also covers principles and “hands-on” experience of nanotechnologies including atomic force microscopy (AFM) and “lab-on-achip” miniaturization devices. Language of instruction is English.

Målgruppe: Alle der vil have viden om blød nanoteknologi i biologiske systemer f.eks.

undervisere, rådgivere, myndighedspersoner og personer der arbejder med udvikling i

bioteknologiske og biomedicinske applikationer.
